About Us

The Garioch Community Kitchen was initiated by the Inverurie Health Improvement Group who developed and commissioned a purpose built community kitchen facility in the Wyness Hall, Inverurie. The project has been supported by the Fairer Scotland Fund, Garioch Community Planning Group, NHS Grampian, Aberdeenshire Childcare Partnership and Aberdeenshire Council.  In addition we have recently received substantial funding from the Big Lottery Young Start fund

The project became a voluntary organisation in March 2012 with volunteer committee members supported by representatives from NHS Grampian and Aberdeenshire Council. The committee members have a wealth of experience in the Catering and Hospitality industry as well as Nutrition and Teaching qualifications.

The project aims to encourage practical cookery skills within local communities, raise awareness of healthy eating messages and deliver training through its brand name ‘Confidence to Cook”

The Garioch Community Kitchen offers a variety of courses, including practical cooking, Nutrition and Food Hygiene courses and Training for Trainers courses for members of the Community and support workers.

REHIS accredited Food Hygiene and Nutrition courses are available to those seeking to increase their knowledge, skills and employability prospects.

The training kitchen welcomes all ages and groups of people, from all over Grampian, whatever their skill level may be and is also available for hire by individuals wishing to run their own courses.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic members for our committee!
